Luna Maya

Iconic Akad Nikah Ceremony for Luna Maya’s Wedding of the Year

Over 500 million Indonesians tuned in to witness this historic wedding — a cultural moment that stirred national pride. At the heart of it: a celebration of Indonesian craftsmanship and identity.

In collaboration with Bimo Singgih of Stupa Caspea, we designed a breathtaking ceremony stage that fused Javanese elegance with French Art Nouveau flair. The centrepiece — a 6×4 metre woven fan — evoked the form of a traditional Javanese crown, intricately constructed using bold stripes of lontar and coconut leaf. The design married heritage with innovation, speaking to both the bride’s Indonesian roots and the couple’s mixed cultural background.

Tradition meets modernity

Tradition met modernity in every detail. The magical, all natural setting sparked a wave of admiration across the country, with many celebrating Luna Maya’s bold choice to spotlight ethnic Indonesian artistry over Western-style celebrity extravagance.

Completing the scene was our pioneering woven furniture set — the first of its kind. We developed a new technique for coconut leaf upholstery, echoing the french art nouveau motifs of the backdrop. Six richly decorated chairs and a signature lontar-leaf table — aptly named The Luna Table before this marriage even took place — came together in a sculptural harmony of form, function, and storytelling.
