Transformative Leaf Art
Make a Scene Bali is A Leaf Creation Studio that fuses traditional craftsmanship with theatrical design, bold concepts, and a shared passion for sustainability.
Founded in 2017 by Chloe Quinn, a stage and theatre designer from the United Kingdom, and Ida Bagus Gede Ari Artana (Gus Ari), an expert coconut leaf weaver, the studio is redefining the boundaries of traditional leaf weaving craftsmanship.

Bridging worlds—east and west, traditional and modern, nature and art
Bali’s palm leaf weaving traditions have long been woven into the rhythm of daily life—from crafting offerings for rituals and ceremonies to decorating weddings.
But it was Gus Ari’s creative vision that saw the potential to elevate this everyday craft into an art form. At a friend’s wedding, his intricate tableau of woven coconut leaves caught Chloe’s eye.
Captivated by the complexity and soul of the work, she reached out—and the collaboration that followed would transform the island’s creative landscape. The two artists began creating installations that feel alive with imagination and purpose.
Today, their work not only decorates events—it tells stories, ignites imaginations, and inspires a renewed appreciation for the natural world and the cultural richness of Bali.

What makes us different
A green revolution is underway in Bali
What sets our creations apart is the design studio’s ability to transform flat, 2-dimensional palm leaves into breathtaking 3D structures.
From intricate gateways to majestic mythological creatures, our sculptures push the boundaries of what is possible with this once considered “humble” material.
Our dreamlike creations captivate audiences in Bali and beyond landing us commissions from prestigious events such as the G20 Summit in Bali and Iconic international wedding planners.
Our Impact
Minimizing environmental impact while maximizing creativity
We promote sustainable event decorating through our use of biodegradable organic materials, which minimizes the one-time use of non-sustainable materials like plastic and styrofoam. By harnessing an ever expanding array of locally sourced natural materials and traditional weaving techniques, we reflect the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal of Responsible Consumption and Production.
By showcasing the possibilities of sustainable craftsmanship, we have positively revitalized interest in traditional skills and natural materials for a new generation of artists and artisans in Bali.
